I explore the public proclamation of faith and its pervasive placement in our contemporary landscape. By capturing a symbol of faith, my work reinforces the definitive devotional pieces of public art as a representational system of belief through universal codes. I am now interested in, not only documenting the relationship of visual language where codified conflicts happen, but also in having direct involvement with religious symbols as objects. What power does statuary hold in the contemporary context of highways, parking lots, and cemeteries? What role do these objects have in art or as art? I expose man-made holy objects and the announcing of private faith publicly, encouraging the viewer to question the veracity of this statuary (symbol) on his or her own accord.
